Office block on Greg Street
The original building housed the drawing office and management services of Craven Brothers (Manchester) Ltd.
The firm were makers of massive, made to measure, metal-cutting machines.
Here are just a few examples, lathes; grinders; vertical boring mills; turbine gear-tooth cutters; wagon wheel profile lathes and https://www.g4fas.net/craven-brothers-manchester-limited.html Remarkably most of the details were made on site, from cast-iron bed sections weighing 30 tonnes apiece down to the smallest screws.
Time served apprentices received no indentures except for a pat on the back and advised to "Just tell 'em where you're from lad !"

Single track to Stockport
The railway south of Reddish South station towards Stockport is now a single line. At one time not only was there a double line but the area on the left where the warehouse is now also carried another double line of tracks.
