Broadstone Mill, Reddish
Seen from Houldsworth's Reddish Mill. Twin mill built 1903-7 for 260,000 mule spindles (colossal) and powered by two George Saxon inverted vertical triple expansion engines in a common house. Closed 1959 and all the power plant buildings have been swept away.

Office block on Greg Street
The original building housed the drawing office and management services of Craven Brothers (Manchester) Ltd. The firm were makers of massive, made to measure, metal-cutting machines. Here are just a few examples, lathes; grinders; vertical boring mills; turbine gear-tooth cutters; wagon wheel profile lathes and https://www.g4fas.net/craven-brothers-manchester-limited.html Remarkably most of the details were made on site, from cast-iron bed sections weighing 30 tonnes apiece down to the smallest screws. Time served apprentices received no indentures except for a pat on the back and advised to "Just tell 'em where you're from lad !"
