Wellington Road North, Heaton Chapel
The A6 through Heaton Chapel. Outside the Tesla electric car showroom is a sign warning of No Right Turn 400 yds ahead. Traffic for Heaton Moor via the B5169 near to turn left past the former Chapel House Hotel Image This road was the A626 but was renumbered A6188 in 2019/20. However, neither the old nor new number appears on road signs.

Wellington Road North, Heaton Chapel
The A6 through Heaton Chapel. On the left is the former Chapel House Hotel Image The original 1822 pub was rebuilt in 1889. It was purchased by Bass of Burton in 1921. It was later known as Tut n Shive, and then Conors until the police closed it down around 2009. It subsequently became a Tesco Extra supermarket before being closed again in 2015. The road to the left was the A626 but was renumbered A6188 in 2019/20. However, neither the old nor new number appears on road signs. The signs only mention that it leads to the B5169 to Reddish.

The Lych Gate was erected in 1890 in memory of former church warden T Beaumont. Originally it a gas light installed. On the right is a war memorial. In the background is a former car showroom Image

Chapel House Hotel
In 1822 a pub was built opposite St. Thomas' Heaton Chapel and was called The Chapel House. The original pub was rebuilt in 1889 and named Chapel House Hotel. It was purchased by Bass of Burton in 1921. It was later known as Tut n Shive, and then Conors until the police closed it down around 2009. It subsequently became a Tesco Extra supermarket before being closed again in 2015.

War Memorial at St Thomas's Heaton Chapel
The war memorial at St Thomas's is in the form of a stone Celtic Cross, eight feet high with the image of a Crusader's sword. It is inscribed "To the glory of God and in honoured memory of the men of this parish who fell in the Great War 1914 - 1919".
