Heaton Mersey railway station (site), Greater Manchester
Opened in 1880 by the Midland Railway on its line from Chinley to Manchester Central, this station closed to passengers in 1963.
View west towards Didsbury and Manchester. Following the closure of the line, the cutting was filled in by landfill and built on, making the scene unrecognisable from old photographs. The line ran roughly straight ahead but about 10m lower down! The chimneys of the station building would probably have just poked above the new ground level where the garages are situated.

2-4 Vale Close, Heaton Mersey
Timber-framed, probably C17th, extended at the far end in the C18th. Originally the brick panels would have been filled with wattle-and-daub. Grade II listed.
