On the Peak Forest Tramway Trail
The tramway was a track for horse-powered wagons taking limestone down from Dove Holes to the canal at Bugsworth Basin. The track was downhill from Dove Holes, so the horses only had to pull up empty wagons, except for a 500 yard inclined plane at Chapel-en-le-Frith, where the wagons were attached to a continuous rope, so that the descending full wagongs pulled up the empties.
