Railway east of Chinley Station
This is the view from the station footbridge. Compare with Image from 1984 - almost 40 years earlier - when the disused island platforms were still visible.

Returning tanks
The Broughton Lane,Sheffield to Ditton tanks pass through Chinley station which looks a bit like a half finished building site. Some demolition has taken place and rubble has been left behind. It looks a bit better these days .

London - Derby - Manchester express entering Chinley, 1960
View eastward, towards Chapel-en-le-Frith, Matlock, Derby and London - also Sheffield. The 14.25 express from London St Pancras to Manchester Central is hauled by Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 No. 45302 (built 1/37, withdrawn 7/67).

Chinley station
Crewe based class 47 number 47333 heads west through Chinley station with loaded ICI wagons.The hoppers on this train are the old vacuum braked wagons, now long withdrawn. Chinley station is now nothing more than an unmanned halt, but was once a very busy station.
