Chapel-en-le-Frith War Memorial
The war memorial in Chapel-en-le-Frith Market Place. The inscription on the dome reads: Erected 1919 to record the honoured names of the men from the Parish of Chapel-en-le-Frith who served in the Great War. and on the face: THIS MEMORIAL ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION WAS DEDICATED BY BRIGADIER GENERAL GODFREY D. GOODMAN. C.M.G., D.S.O., V.D. War memorial
The war memorial in the Market Place records the 667 names of men from Chapel-en-le-Frith who served in the Great War by year of enlistment of whom 79 were killed. http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Derbyshire/Chapel-en-le-Frith.html provides further details. A third of the recruits enlisted in 1914 and many served with 'B' Company 1/6 Battalion Sherwood Foresters on the Western Front.
