River Sett, Hayfield
The River Sett rises on Kinder Scout and becomes a tributary of the Goyt, which is in turn a tributary of the Mersey. It is seen here babbling through the outskirts of Hayfield.

Hayfield
Hayfield, Derbyshire a village that gives walkers good access to Kinder Scout. In 1932 Kinder mass trespass started not far from the village, it was a protest about the lack of access to the open countryside for the common man. Hayfield once had a railway link with Manchester but unfortunately the branch line from New Mills was closed in 1970. The old track bed is now a footpath (The Set Valley Way).

Sett Valley Trail
The Sett Valley Trail heads west out of Hayfield following the route of the old branch line railway to New Mills, closed in 1970 - among the last of the Beeching era closures.
