Checkpoint Charlie - Hayfield
"Halt! who goes there?". Photo taken on Kinder Road the day after Hayfield's May Queen festivities. Residents decorated their houses and streets on the theme of significant decades. Here the collapse of the Berlin Wall is representing the 1980's.

Mass Trespass plaque
On Kinder Road near the sign for the Snake Pass path. It commemorates "the arrest of leading members of The Kinder Mass Trespass on 24th April 1932 following their return to Hayfield after the protest. They served prison sentences of up to six months for their part in the campaign for access to our countryside."

Footpath to the Snake Inn
The Peak & Northern Footpaths Society has a long and proud history in the provision and maintenance of signposts, bridges, etc. Signposts are probably the society's most enduring items, as some are over 100 years old, like this one here dated 1908.
