What did the Romans ever do for us?
Well, for one thing, they built a road right here. Not that there's much sign of it any longer, having long since been ploughed out. But the line of it follows this drystone wall up and over the horizon.

Mineral railway, Staden
The railway, seen from the bridge on Staden Lane, leads to Hindlow Quarry, and the former line of it beyond is used by the High Peak Trail, the Pennine Bridleway and the Midshires Trail. On the right is Staden Business Park.
