Farm gate for Averhill Side
It's not a clear day; but I could just make out the church spires in Butterton and Grindon, the latter about 6 K away. Church spires and steeples were so useful for travellers of old, to guide them across country.

Rough moorland pasture north of Averhill Side
Sitting atop the spindly tree is an unidentified bird - surveying its domain. From studying an enhanced and magnified image, I suspect that it was a bird of prey though it may have been a corvid.
