Stalybridge Congregational Church
The first meeting of Congregationalists in Stalybridge is believed to have taken place in Myles Schofields Garret, Old Street in 1823 - 1830. King Street Chapel was open 1830 -1835. Melbourne Street Chapel opened in 1835 and rebuilt as Melbourne Street Church in 1860. In 1990 the Sunday School building was found to be structurally unsafe and it finally closed its doors in November 1990.
This modern multipurpose Church on Baker Street off Acres Lane was officially opened on 18th December 1999. http://stalybridgecongregationalchurch.btck.co.uk/History
