Helix aspersa
The common European Brown Garden Snail. The Helix aspersa is an air-breathing snail, which has a single lung. It has a brownish soft body, which is usually covered with slimy mucus. They have yellow or cream-coloured shells with brown spiral stripes. The garden snail has a flat muscular organ called a foot that helps it move with a gliding motion helped by the release of a mucus to reduce friction with the rough surface. They are extremely slow as their fastest speed is only 1.3 centimetres per second. For more information see http://www.snail-world.com/garden-snail/

Poppy's rainbow
Poppy's grandmother lives in an apartment block for retired people. Due to the restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic she is no longer able to pay her a visit. Poppy has used her coloured chalks to create a rainbow on the patio below her window so her grandmother and her neighbours can still look down and smile.

Dowson Road in the snow
Snow had started falling in the middle of the night. The main roads had not been gritted and traffic conditions were chaotic. By lunchtime traffic on the A627 Dowson Road past the Shell Filling Station was moving but the snow was still falling. The bus in view is a #206 which normally uses Stockport Road through Gee Cross. It was diverted as many roads were impassable. The service was later suspended for the day.
