At the corner of Knott Lane and Dowson Road
On the left is a litter bin probably dating from the 1990s. The bench has probably been there since Dowson Road was built in the late 1920s. There is a similar bench and bin on the diagonally opposite corner Image The V sign on the wall is typical of other survivors in the area and indicates the presence of a fire hydrant valve Image The boxes on the right are for traffic light control. The green one on the left is an old GEC cabinet. It has a small locked door which in some instances contained the manual operation controls, if any were required. This business was sold to Siemens, who operate it out of Poole. The grey box is one of theirs. In between them is a power pillar -essentially a sawn off lamppost - to give them access to mains power.
