The Mini Clubman Estate hearse Image on the left was customised by Stuart Chance of Rochdale over a three year period. The wooden coffin in the rear hides a 4x50w Aiwa stereo radio/CD player. It is the only one of its kind in the world.

Opel GT
One of the cars on show at a classic car rally held at Ewen Fields in aid of SSAFA http://www.ssafa.org.uk/ a charity that provides practical support and assistance to servicemen and women, veterans and their families. The Opel GT is a two-seat sports car which first presented as a styling exercise in 1965 at the Paris and Frankfurt motor shows, and introduced as a production model late in 1968. It relied partly on components from the contemporary Opel Kadett B and had a body made by French contractor Brissonneau & Lotz. Between 1968 and 1973 a total of 103,463 cars were sold. Designed by Opel Stylist Erhard Schnell, the Opel GT was a fastback, that had neither an externally accessible trunk nor a conventional hatchback. There was a parcel shelf behind the seats that could only be accessed through the main doors. Behind the parcel shelf was a fold-up panel that concealed a spare tire and jack. One unusual feature of the Opel GT was the operation of the pop-up headlights. They were manually operated, by way of a large lever along the centre console next to the shifter. Unlike most pop-up headlights, they both rotated in the same direction (counterclockwise from inside the car) about a longitudinal axis. One standard joke about GT owners was that you can easily spot them due to the heavy muscles on their right arm built up by using the lever to pop up the headlights. The interior of the Opel GT was surprisingly large for a car of its size, owing to its original design process (exterior metal was sculpted around an interior model). Headroom and legroom were sufficient for those over 6 feet (1.83 m) tall. More information on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_GT

Austin 7 Ruby ADD443
One of the cars on show at a classic car rally held at Ewen Fields in aid of SSAFA http://www.ssafa.org.uk/ a charity that provides practical support and assistance to servicemen and women, veterans and their families. The Austin 7 was an economy car produced from 1922 until 1939 and some 290,000 cars were made. It was considerably smaller than the Ford Model T. The wheelbase was only 6 ft 3 inches (1.905 m), and the track only 40 inches (1.016 m). Equally it was lighter - less than half the Ford's weight at 794 pounds (360 kg). The engine required for adequate performance was therefore equally reduced and the 747 cc sidevalve was quite capable with a modest 10 hp output. There were several models and this "Ruby" dates from 1934. More information can be found on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_7

"Such Sweet Thunder" TVR H9 VBS
This was one of the vehicles on show at the classic car rally held recently at Ewen Fields in aid of SSAFA http://www.ssafa.org.uk a charity that provides practical support and assistance to servicemen and women, veterans and their families. TVR was an independent manufacturer of sports cars. Until 2006 it was based in Blackpool, but has since been split up into several smaller subsidiaries and relocated elsewhere. The company manufactured lightweight sports cars with powerful engines and was, at one time, the third-largest specialised sports car manufacturer in the world, offering a diverse range of coupés and convertibles. Most vehicles use an in-house straight-6 cylinder engine design; others an in-house V8. TVR sports cars are composed of tubular steel frames, cloaked in fibreglass bodywork. This is one of the just over 400 V8s built between 1991 and 1993. This is the owner's second TVR and was bought as a running restoration. To date the body has been taken off and the chassis restored.

Edsel 439 UXW
One of several American cars on show at a classic car rally held at Ewen Fields in aid of SSAFA http://www.ssafa.org.uk/ a charity that provides practical support and assistance to servicemen and women, veterans and their families. This 1958 Edsel Ranger 2 door sedan was built in September 1957 in Loiusville, KY and is one of only 4615 of this model. It has a 3 speed automatic gearbox, self-adjusting brakes and was imported from Colorado in 2002. The engine, gearbox and interior are all original. The Edsel was named after Henry Ford's deceased son. Although a failure when first introduced in 1958 only a few examples remain and it is classed as one of world's most collectable cars.
