Newton station - street aspect
The building was a magnificent stone structure, prominently dated 1883. The facilities were in non-railway use by 1989, but excellently maintained.

Newton for Hyde station
A class 323 EMU 323231 is en route to Glossop and Hadfield. The British Rail Class 323 electric multiple units (EMUs) were built by Hunslet TPL from 1992-93. Forty-three 3-car units were built for inner-suburban services around Birmingham and Manchester.

Newton for Hyde Station Building
Newton for Hyde station was opened by the Sheffield, Ashton-Under-Lyne and Manchester Railway as "Newton and Hyde" in 1841. The Sheffield, Ashton-Under-Lyne and Manchester Railway became the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway (MSLR) Image in 1847. On the side of this old station building are the initials MSLR.

Newton station - former booking office
By 1989 the station buildings were in non-railway use, but excellently maintained. The passageway to the side of the office was the entrance to the platforms.
