Dowson Road after the snow
Snow had started falling in the middle of the night. The main roads had not been gritted and traffic conditions were chaotic. By lunchtime traffic on the A627 Dowson Road was moving but the snow was still falling and the pavement was treacherous.

Spring Terrace
This row of terraced houses between Green Street and Bradbury Street on what is now Dowson Road is named Spring Terrace Image When the houses were built in 1882 this was called Swains Street which ended at the junction with Kirkley Street and Markland Street. When the road was extended c.1930 to The Gerrards, bypassing Gee Cross Village, Swains Street became part of Dowson Road.

Back of Dowson Road
A typical passageway at the back of terraced properties, in this case Dowson Road and Brighton Grove. Posts block off the entrances to prevent its use by motor vehicles. Once children might have played hopscotch along here but these days they are places for storing wheelie-bins. There is a cat sat on one at the far end.
