Back of Dowson Road
A typical passageway at the back of terraced properties, in this case Dowson Road and Brighton Grove. Posts block off the entrances to prevent its use by motor vehicles. Once children might have played hopscotch along here but these days they are places for storing wheelie-bins. There is a cat sat on one at the far end.

Franks Barber Shop
A note in the window of the shop on Dowson Road says "Closed due to illness - Re-open soon". Alas Frank's illness proved terminal so the shop will not be re-opening soon.

This photograph was taken to celebrate the "official" 20th Anniversary of Geograph. I wasn't a contributor in 2005 but I'd joined by the site's 5th anniversary in 2010. This replicates one of the five I took on this day 15 years ago.

Ahmed Bros
The former Kirkley Hat Works Image is now a warehouse and distribution centre for Ahmed Bros. New access to the premises from Dowson Road was created in 2017 Image Despite original planning permission for the change of use excluding it being open to the public that has now changed.
