The former Hyde Equitable Co-operative Society store on the corner of Greenfield Street and Market Street is under scaffolding and undergoing essential maintenance. For some years it was Kwik Save store before Wilkinsons (later known as Wilkos) took it over in 2009. In 2017 they re-located to Denton. Rumours that Wetherspoons are going to move into the property appear to be unfounded. My understanding is that Wilkos still have a 10 year lease on the building.

On the corner of Greenfield Street and Market Street is what was once the Hyde Equitable Co-operative Society store. For some years it was Kwik Save Image before Wilkinsons (later known as Wilkos) took it over in 2009 Image In 2017 Image they re-located to Denton and until now has lain empty. Google Streetview imagery dated 2011 shows the shop between Bennett's Staff Bureau and Zeenath's (two long established businesses) as "The Jewellery Bar" but by 2012 it was Stin-Arch Ventures Image (a mobile-phone shop). By 2013 it had changed to Muscle Freaks Image but by 2014 it had closed again and part of the old frontage of an earlier business "The Boutique" Image was visible. In May 2015 it opened up briefly as "Bow & Bells" Image Now it is the Strawberry Beret Dress Agency Image who previous operated from the Inside Market Image

Opposite the Town Hall used to be the Hyde Equitable Co-operative but it later became KwikSave and then Wilkinson's. Now the name has been shortened simply to Wilko.
