Hadfield railway station, Derbyshire
Opened in 1844 by the Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester Railway (which changed its name to the Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway in 1847), this station is now the end of the line from Manchester. View north east towards the buffers. In formers days there was a second platform to the right and we would have been looking in the direction of Woodhead.

The station is now at the end of a single track line but was once a stop on the electrified Sheffield - Woodhead - Manchester line. A class 323 electric multiple unit has just arrived from Glossop and the driver is changing ends before departing for Manchester Piccadilly.
