Accommodation Cottages
These houses were built for miners working in the nearby collieries. The King William Pit was in the field behind and a short distance beyond was the Shady Oak Pit which was active in the 1830's.

Former colliery housing, Dickens Lane
Small groups of miners cottages were built near to the deeper pits, such as this group called Accommodation, (after the mine), at the top of Dickens Lane. Presently classed as a local building of interest, it may be given a grade II listing in the future.
