The A6 through Stockport wass closed for roadworks. Buses on the 192 service southbound were being diverted through Mersey Square and St Peter's Square. Passengers could alight outside the Merseyway Shopping Centre. Those wishing to board the service had to climb the hill to use this temporary bus stop. Northbound buses were travelling through the bus station but not stopping in the bus station.

The former Co-operative emporium on Chestergate. It is now occupied by Primark but the entrance is from Merseyway on the other side of the building.

On the left at street level is the entrance to the Stockport Air Raid Shelters. At a higher level on the left is St Peter's church. In the background can be seen the chimney of the Hat Factory and Stockport's iconic viaduct.
