Byron House, Macclesfield
On London Road. It is the home of the company East Cheshire Glass. The building was formerly one of Macclesfield's several silk mills, like Albion Mill which can be seen here further along the road.

London road Mill, Macclesfield - steam engine
The incomplete remains of a vertical single cylinder steam engine. This is possibly of 1840s vintage and may have been out of use since 1894. It was quite a surprise to discover yet another incomplete vertical engine. There is a further view looking upwards here - Image Since then the engine house has been rebuilt around the remains and it now last appeared to be being used as an office.

London Road Mill, Macclesfield
Textile Mill - Silk manufacturing. Now a glass company. The lean to with a semi-circular window over the door housed the remains of a stationary steam engine believed to be c1840s vintage. This has since been rebuilt as an office but still contains the engine parts. I really need to go and photograph Macclesfield's mills in more depth.
