Memorial stone, The Tip, Macclesfield
The slab is inscribed on the other face simply "Tip MM", perhaps indicating that some improvements took place around the millennium. A fairly new, fenced play area has been laid out on the bank below Black Road.

Black Road, Macclesfield, looking north
The pub, flying a flag of St George almost as big as the pub, is called The Hollins and it's for sale. The 1871 map shows it as the Bee Hive public house.
The Hollins takes its name from a farm to the southeast, there in 1871. Streetmap still shows it as Hollins Farm but it is unconvincing as a working farm, being surrounded by Macclesfield Golf Course.
The wall on the left is the boundary of King George's Field, aka The Tip recreation ground.
