Looking along Goodall Street, Macclesfield
The Wharf public house, on the corner with Brook Street, is closed. Slightly odd appearance is because the corner is greater than a right angle.

Brook Street crossroads, Macclesfield
At this point, Brook Street crosses The Silk Road as the former climbs east out of the town centre. The Silk Road, part of the A523, forms an inner bypass for Macclesfield, and is named in honour of the industry with which the town was once synonymous.

Windmill Street, Macclesfield
Originally leading up the hill to the windmill that ground copper ore for smelting in the nearby Charles Roe factory. When the business was moved elsewhere after the death of Roe the mill was converted to more normal usage: grinding corn. The mill in the picture is one of a number of silk mills still standing in Macclesfield but all are used for different purposes. The River Bollin runs at the foot of the mill on this side and the road bridge over the London mainline is immediately at the photographer's feet.
