Carved stone post by the UC road, in parish of Macclesfield (Macclesfield District), North West of King's Head, Gurnett, in pavement, back to stone wall, on East side of road. Erected by an unknown authority in the 19th century.

Roving Bridge (No 43), Macclesfield Canal, Gurnett, Cheshire
This view shows the towpath descending to the east bank of the canal having crossed the bridge from the west side. Using this kind of "roving bridge", horses did not require unhitching from the boats when a towpath changed sides. They are called "snake bridges" in this region.
