Carved stone post by the UC road, in parish of Macclesfield (Macclesfield District), North West of King's Head, Gurnett, in pavement, back to stone wall, on East side of road. Erected by an unknown authority in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : (illegible) : Milestone Society National ID: CH_MF01

Sun setting near Macclesfield in Cheshire
The image was obtained through a gap in the hedge from the canal towpath. I had high hopes of this really developing into a red sky, but it didn't. (Timed at 20.46 BST)

Roving Bridge (No 43), Macclesfield Canal, Gurnett, Cheshire
This view shows the towpath descending to the east bank of the canal having crossed the bridge from the west side. Using this kind of "roving bridge", horses did not require unhitching from the boats when a towpath changed sides. They are called "snake bridges" in this region.
