Eagle and Child and barn with red door
The Former pub, the sign of which is seen at Image], dates from 1738. There are several pubs in England with this name.One explanation for the name is suggested that it is perhaps connected to the crest of Lord Derby.

Old mines near Eagle and Child
The synclinal coalfields of the eastern borderlands of Cheshire have left fascinating remains such as the humps and bumps here. Small mines with shallow shafts or tunnel entrances were worked here in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
