Ingersley Vale Mill Chimney
Ingersley Vale Mill (which was built in 1792 or 1793) originally relied on water power alone but later due to water shortages in the vale – steam engines were installed to help drive machinery. This is the last such hillside chimney to survive in the area.

Textile mill ruins, Ingersley Vale
Although some of the nineteenth century textile mills have found new uses in Bollington and other erstwhile textile towns of the North of England this one has finally reached the end of its viability. Tucked away up the valley of the River Dean its position would have been ideal when it was used as a dyeworks having clean water to hand (don't think about what came out of the mill after being used for dyeing) but now its position militates against any further use.
