Clayton's chimney
This ornate chimney is thought to have been erected by William Clayton around 1840 as the top of a ventilation shaft for his colliery.

On the footpath through the grounds of Endon Hall near its junction with Higher Lane. I couldn't resist the sun highlighting this splendid acer.

Higher Lane cottages, Kerridge
The extensive use of stone here is no wonder as these cottages were built for workers in the quarries on Kerridge Hill rising steeply behind them. Nowadays they are sought after dwellings offering extensive views over the Cheshire Plain to the Welsh Hills.

Gatehouse to Endon Hall, Bollington
Hexagonal in plan and with a castellated elevation quite an impressive gatehouse. Endon hall is now, I believe, split into individual apartments. Clarke Lane becomes Oak Lane as it turns the corner and I fancy at one time there might have been a crossroads there.
