Arrington: St Nicholas - font, nave and chancel
In the Middle Ages this was a larger church, with north (left) and south aisles "The nave," wrote Nikolaus Pevsner, "was deprived of both aisles at some date. They were of three bays and [the arcade] had short octagonal piers." The arcades were filled with brick (see Image]) but the interior - filled with light on this fine winter morning - is limewashed. Pevsner had nothing to say about the sturdy font.
