British School, Queen Street, Hitchin
On the left is the girls and infants school and on the right the Masters' and Mistresses' houses. These were built in 1857-8. The boys school is behind; it was built earlier. The buildings are now the British Schools Museum.

British Schools Museum, Hitchin
Children were first taught on this site in Queen Street in 1810 at a school created by William Wilshere. The buildings were acquired by the British Schools Trust in 1990 after they were put up for sale by Hertfordshire County Council.
