Over the A507 to Chicksands near Shefford, Beds
After the second w.w. Chicksands was an American air base, and there used to be an armed guard on the gate. It was not unusual to see big American Cadillacs on the local roads. If you could befriend one of the airman, there was always a 200 pack of Lucky Strike cigarettes to be had for nothing. But now they have gone, Council offices etc. have taken over the base.
