Distance

Borough Market Junction
Taken from a train heading westwards, here we can see the single-track north to west chord that enables stock movements into and out of Cannon Street station (no scheduled service uses it). In the distance, the dome of St Paul's Cathedral. "Take Courage" refers to the London brewery Courage; the sign has presumably heartened generations of office workers who are less than happy in their jobs.

20-26 Park Street
A modest early C19th terrace of four houses - only one window per floor, the proportioning is poor, and the brickwork is Georgian hackwork. Pretty fanlights though (Image]). Grade II listed.

Take Courage
The well known brewer's advertising slogan on the end of this building on Park Street, Southwark suggests it was once a pub. There is a cycle rack to the right of the photo.

21-23 Park Street
Fortunate late C18th surviving pair, each of two bays in three storeys plus basement and attic. Grade II listed. They gained notoriety in 2013 when they sold for £3 million, making them the country's most expensive council housing. Southwark Council sold them to fund the building of new council houses but was criticised for social cleansing, a conclusion it's hard to avoid given the council's recent record of demolishing large-scale council estates and shipping out residents. On the side is a well-preserved ghost sign reading "Take Courage". The houses were probably originally built for the Anchor Brewery which later became Courage.
