London County Hall
This is the view of the rear of County Hall http://www.londoncountyhall.com/index.php in Belvedere Road facing across Forum Magnum Square. Construction work on the building for the London County Council began in 1911 to the designs of the architect Ralph Knott but it was not completed until 1922, firstly due to a builders' strike in 1914, and then by the First World War, with work being stopped from 1915 to 1918. The cost of the building was £4,000,000. The construction required thirty million bricks, one hundred and seventy five thousand tons of concrete, and fourteen miles of sanitary pipes, while 114 acres of surface needed painting.
