70 Newington Causeway
An uncommonly interesting post-war office block which also goes by the name Lancaster House. It has glass bricks to the ground floor, projecting vertical concrete ribs, and a series of roundish windows on the right. The preponderance of brick rather than steel and glass suggests a date somewhere in the 1950s or early 1960s. It appeared to be empty at the time of the photo, and whilst it is relatively unobtrusive, buildings of this vintage are very vulnerable because no-one likes them - I hope it survives.

Apparently a mixture of early- and mid-C19th buildings, stuccoed and painted.
Occupied by the Institute Of Optometry, "an independent self financing charity, dedicated to the promotion of clinical excellence, research, and post graduate education in optometry."
