Shops on Harper Road
This parade of shop units opposite Dickens Square Park included several that were shuttered even on a weekday afternoon (and therefore presumably closed). In front of the shops is a docking station for the Barclays hire bikes introduced in summer 2010, since I took the previous version of this photo Image In the foreground, the catkins on the tree show that Spring had finally arrived (the day was bright though cold).

Ellington House and shops, Harper Road
Ellington House is a block consisting of four storeys of residential accommodation above a parade of shops on Harper Road, Southwark, opposite Dickens Square Park. As of 2010 the shops included a pharmacy, newsagent, travel agent, fish bar, dry cleaners and off-licence. A man is standing on the balcony above the shops towards the far end cleaning the first floor windows. For the equivalent view a year later, see Image

The William, Rockingham Street
The William pub on the corner of Harper Road (foreground) and Rockingham Street appeared to have closed, with a "for sale" board on it. Looking down Rockingham Street the scene is dominated by the newly-completed Strata Tower in Walworth.

Sculpture in Dickens Square Park
A rather uninspiring sculpture consisting of steel pipes emerging from the ground bent into random shapes. There was no obvious explanatory plaque. Either that or the local vandals have had fun with the gas mains...
