Bust, Tooley Street
Depicting Ernest Bevin (1881-1951), "the Dockers' KC". The panel details his various trades union and political appointments (including as a local M.P.), followed by a panegyric: "A forceful and inspiring leader of democratic principles. He gained a place in men's hearts few could equal". The buildings behind (One Tower Bridge) have gone up since 2010 (Image]).

St John's park, Bermondsey
Formerly the churchyard of St John's Horsleydown, now occupied by Image, the remainder of the site is a public park that was restored by Southwark Council in 2002. The distinctive London Assembly building can be seen in the background.

Queen Elizabeth Street
This short section of the street, to the west of Tower Bridge Road, connects to Tooley Street on the right of the photo. The street is used by buses terminating at City Hall. The 343 route runs to New Cross and is currently served by Wright bodied Volvo buses belonging to Abellio. The statue on the right of the photo is of Samuel Bourne Bevington who was Colonel commanding the 3rd. V.B. The Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment between 1884 and 1899. He subsequently became the first Mayor of Bermondsey in 1900 The statue was sculpted by Sydney March and unveiled in 1911.

The London City Mission
The London City Mission. What intrigued me was the mix of architecture. The foundation of the 1700s Church, St. John's, is still at the base. The 1970s London City Mission with a modern orange and black apartment block close by.
