Probably inter-war, a little bit out of the ordinary with a banded front and Deco touches to the windows. The name at the bottom at the time was Willcox's.

55-59 Thrale Street
A pleasant little early C19th terrace of two-bay houses in three storeys. The listing suggests that the bracketed cornice running along nos. 56-59 may denote erstwhile shopfronts. Grade II listed.

34-36 Southwark Street
This partly-ruined building, almost underneath the Waterloo-London Bridge railway line, lies within the Borough High Street Conservation area, whose appraisal document reads: "It is a commercial building of about the 1860s, which turns the corner into Southwark Street and therefore occupies a potentially important location in the streetscape. However, it has been ruinous for some years and its condition noticeably detracts from the character and appearance of this part of the conservation area." http://www.southwark.gov.uk/Uploads/FILE_22340.pdf Although this cannot be denied, it certainly makes an interesting and unusual sight.
