The Schoolmaster's House
This door in the wall in Copperfield Street is labelled "schoolhouse" and the lintel is inscribed "schoolkeeper". The building behind the wall, formerly the Orange Street School (being the original name of this street), is now the Jerwood Space arts centre.

Half a bollard
This unusual bit of street furniture on Sawyer Street, placed apparently to stop vehicles turning the corner from mounting the pavement, looks as if it might be part of some ancient marine object but in fact the manufacturer's details on it show it to be quite modern. The other 'half' is on the opposite corner.

Former mail sorting office, Copperfield Street
The back of this building still bears Royal Mail notices as evidence of its original existence as a sorting office since 1905. But on 21 February 2008 it was reopened by Queen Elizabeth II as the London Fire Brigade headquarters, replacing Image The main entrance is round the other side on Union Street.
