The Stackpole Inn, Stackpole
This popular pub serves a village population of about 200 but of course the custom comes from far and wide. It was at one time a post office.

The road entering Stackpole village
'Stackpole' is derived from 'Ystangbwll', itself probably derived from 'Ystad Bwll" meaning 'Estate Pool'. Maybe referring to the Lily Ponds created by the Cawdor family. No doubt the facts can be found on the internet.

Stackpole
Looking along the village street. Stackpole is not an anglicised Welsh name; South Pembrokeshire was settled by people of Flemish origin in the 12th century, and became known as 'Little England beyond Wales', with an English linguistic and cultural flavour which is still evident today.
