Ty Newydd cottages
A row of 4 terraced cottages on the A487 east of Abergwuan/Fishguard. The road seen beyond, rising towards Garngelli, is a notoriously fast and dangerous stretch, the site of several accidents and near-misses.

They sailed the seven seas
Not obvious Geograph material perhaps, but this pair of elderly local brothers (both in their eighties, and Welsh-speakers of course) despite spending most of their lives at sea, are also close to the land and belong to a dying breed of countrymen who can still handle old-fashioned implements like scythe and spade without recourse to mechanised equipment. It seems only fitting that one of them spotted, in a nearby field a few years ago, an earth-encrusted hand tool that turned out to be a Neolithic stone axe, now in a museum.

Grass cut for silage
The contours of the field are traced by the lines of mown grass in late May. Beyond, Fishguard (left) and Goodwick (right).

Westward view in winter
The sun is setting on a cold January afternoon, with a little snow lingering in shady places. The white house centre left is Ty Newydd, beyond are the Fishguard and Goodwick with the snowy Pencaer peninsula above. Compare with the similar scene in May Image]

Flooded road, Pont Trecynni
A small stream normally flows unobtrusively under the road at this point where a farm lane meets the A487. Heavy rain on October 11 2005 caused flooding here that eventually rendered the lane inaccessible. It was all over in hours.

Late (or early) violet
Always odd, but not unusual in these parts, to see this familiar spring flower blooming in the autumn. The colour of the spur behind the flower would indicate whether this specimen was Viola riviniana, the dog violet, or Viola Canina, the heath dog violet.

Rubbish collection
Disposable waste goes in the black bags; there is another collection for orange-bagged recyclables.
