Fallen Leviathan
A massive beech has crashed to the ground on the path that leads off the main walk around Withybush Woods. It has totally blocked the pathway through the off path woods. Any woodturners out there?

A tour of the WWII sites of RAF Haverfordwest (1)
- Triple Turret Instructional Building A building with three separate bays for the training of aircrew in aircraft turret gunnery. Now in use as a garage. One of the many ex-RAF wartime buildings here and at the nearby Showground that continue in use with an alternative peacetime role. RAF Haverfordwest Overview: 1941: airfield construction commenced. June 1943: airfield officially opened after protracted delays. Parent to the satellite airfield at Templeton. June 1943 - Jan 1944: occupation (after their transfer from RAF Cranwell) by No. 3 (Coastal) OTU instructing general reconnaissance trainees on (mainly) Vickers Wellingtons. Jan 1944 - Sep 1944: host to the General Reconnaissance Aircraft Preparation Pool that was redesignated No. 4 Refresher Flying Training Unit, staying barely a few months. Jan - June 1945: No. 8 OTU transferred from Dyce, Aberdeen, continuing their role as a training unit in photo reconnaissance flying Mosquitoes and Spitfires. An RAF Aircrew Holding Unit (ACHU) was the last to be based at Haverfordwest. 22 November 1945: RAF airfield closed. Re-opened in 1952 as a civil airport. Image
