Front aspect of the old workhouse
There would have been lovely views over the priory ruins and the Cleddau but they are now obscured by overgrown trees. The old workhouse is now owned by the council and has been converted into flats. There is still an air of desperation to the place with boarded up windows,loud music, rubbish everywhere and even a bath dumped outside. Despite all this, some occupants still strive to make it a nice place to live with tubs of bright flowers.

The old Workhouse
Viewed from Union Hill, the workhouse was built in 1839 and designed by local architect William Owen for 159 inmates.

The sign is alongside a layby on the A4076 Freemans Way. The text states
Please take your litter home. Keep Wales Tidy. £1000 max penalty.

Warning of low bridge ahead, Freemans Way, Haverfordwest
The blue sign at the edge of the A4076 Freemans Way shows that there is a low bridge ½ mile ahead. Low in this case is 14' 9" (4.5 metres).
