Houses along the A487 in the village of Dinas Cross
Many of the detached houses here were built by sea captains for their retirement. Nowadays the busy trunk road bisects the village and there have been several campaigns to reduce the speed limit.

Awyr Las (blue sky)
This is a typical Pembrokeshire house. It was built around 1860 using the local "iron stone" that gives its distinctive orangey red colour. The corners ("quoins") use black granite; the roof is local slate. The garden wall is finished with white Quartz pebbles, referred to as "popples".

Blacksmith's workshop and wares
The Thomas family have been blacksmiths here for several generations and there are many striking examples of their work in the local area, as well as further afield. Weather vanes are a speciality: note their own.

Kiel House, Dinas Cross
Useful roadside village shop for locals and holiday makers. Named, I have been informed, after the Kiel ship canal by the local sea captain for whom the building was constructed. He had spent his working life there.
