Y Graig Baptist chapel, Water Street
Handsome 1875 building enhanced by the splendid iron railings; the light blue paintwork is a nice touch. Above the entrance gate hangs a four-sided glass lantern: this appears to be a feature of the town as there are several others to be found.
An earlier chapel was built here in 1776.

Sgwar y Ffynnon/Fountain Square
More of a triangle between College Street and Water Street. The eponynmous fountain, seen here, consists of two non-functioning taps below a lamp. I imagine this was once an important water source and it's a pity more is not made of it. Of the two cottages behind it, the one on the left looks original, that on the right, a dental practice, has been modernised.

Old Emlyn grammar school
The school, on the apex of Water Street, opened in 1867 and ran until 1942. Pupils, who originally came from all over Wales, lodged in the town and were expected to provide their own books. The premises consisted of one room only.
(I'm informed that boys from the Welsh settlement in Patagonia were also sent here at the end of the 19thC.)
