Llanmadoc: Our Shop
The village store and post office at Llanmadoc closed a few years ago, and here is a heart-warming story of community spirit in getting one back up and running. It opened three years ago, its cogs working by much volunteering of the local residents; see this story: http://www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/llanmadoc/Villagers-unite-common-venture/article-632068-detail/article.html It is a café and meeting place as well as a shop and post office – very much the centre of the community. The Welsh version, Siop y Bobl, I believe literally translates as 'Shop of the People'.

Llanmadoc: postbox № SA3 666 and phone
This George V-reign postbox (which has had its slot widened at some stage) and traditional K6-type telephone box flank the driveway of the former post office and stores, which closed down four or five years ago. In January 2007 a community venture managed to get a shop and post office reopened nearby – see Image

What will the neighbours say?
When out walking I never quite know what may catch my imagination and my eye and today I saw an ex-British military ambulance parked on a hard standing (possibly once a greenhouse foundation) in this garden, stripped of its cam pattern and presumably awaiting exterior restoration.

The village green in Llanmadoc
The old village green remains in the centre of the village, raised above the road and surmounted by a Horse-Chestnut tree to the right. The large imposing white house is the old vicarage.
