Former Priory Street Hospital, Carmarthen
Viewed across the Lidl car park on the SE side of Priory Street. Open in 1858 (as the Carmarthenshire or Carmarthen Infirmary), the hospital closed in 1996. Grade II listed in 1981.

St Peter's tower and lychgate
The C15/16 tower of Carmarthen's main church has been lime-rendered and contrasts strongly with the red sandstone lychgate. The church occupies an prime position at the end of King Street.

Looking through the lychgate
The west door of St Peter's seen through the Victorian sandstone lychgate which is vaulted inside. The intricate wrought-iron gates are typical of the high standard of work produced by the town's iron foundries during the C19.

Ordnance Survey Benchmark (OSBM) used for levelling height above Ordnance Datum (OD). Height: 23.7700m OD (Newlyn). Mark verified by the Ordnance Survey in 1972. Description: BLDG NO1 PRIORY ST NW FACE W ANG. 0.5m above ground. 3rd Order BM. The wall has been incorporated into an extension to No.1 Priory St. The mark was included as a side level from Carmarthen FBM on the Carmarthen to Llandovery line of the Second Geodetic Levelling of England & Wales in 1913-1914. It was used on the Carmarthen to Abergavenny branch line (Carmarthen, Llanelly, Neath, Merthyr Tydfil & Abergavenny). It was levelled with a height of 77.999' above OD (Newlyn).
