Sketty Folly
Since Sketty Park House was demolished in 1973 this folly is all that remains of the former estate of Sketty Park, which has now become a residential area. The folly was built for the views it would afford and as such is called a prospect tower or belvedere. Now it stands on a small grassy hill nestled in between houses. It is owned by Swansea City Council who were hoping to preserve it by encouraging someone to develop it as a grand dwelling - before a colony of bats took up residence in it, meaning it could not be disturbed.
