Prince of Wales Dock
A large expanse of water, empty on this day but no doubt an excellent venue for water sports. I suspect the cranes across the dock are now ornamental.

GW 2-8-2T at Swansea East Dock Locomotive Depot
View northward, in the sidings on the north side of East Dock. One of several Locomotive Depots in the Swansea area, this Depot was the ex-GWR one serving the Docks traffic. Coded 87D under BR in the Neath Division, in 1954 it had an allocation of 35:- 3 2-8-2T, 7 2-8-0T, 6 0-6-2T, 16 0-6-0T and 3 0-4-0T: it was closed in 6/64. Collett 2-8-2T No. 7248 was a 10/38 rebuild of Churchward 2-8-0T No. 4249 built 4/16. The 2-8-2Ts and 2-8-0Ts were employed on the heaviest coal trains, mainly on relatively short journeys in South Wales but often they went much further afield into England. In the background is Townhill.

GW '5700' 0-6-0PT at Swansea East Dock Shed
No. 5783 (built 7/30) had had its day; withdrawn in 3/62, it was dumped at the end of the Yard.

Walkway beside the Prince of Wales Dock
Forms part of the Wales Coast Path. It is hard to believe that this was once the scene of busy industrial activity with coal hoists loading ships from rail wagons hauled down from the South-Wales coalfields.
