Construction work in SA1
The SA1 post code region of Swansea has experienced a huge amount of redevelopment over the last few years. Here, a new block of flats is being built alongside the new footbridge, nicknamed the Crunchie Bridge due to its resemblance to the inside of a Crunchie bar! The alignment of the windows on that apartment block though... what's going on there?

Swansea Jack pub sign
This heroic dog is a Swansea legend, a black retriever who in the 1930s saved the lives of, reputedly, no less than 27 individuals, mostly children, from drowning in the docks. He received several awards for animal gallantry. There was great public mourning when he died and a statue was raised elsewhere in the city. For the full story see http://www.aardvarkcymru.co.uk/swanseajack.htm The terms Swansea Jacks has also been applied to the town's sailors, local ironworkers and supporters of Swansea City Football Club (the Vetch field is close by) and even to Swansea-born people in general.
